Crowns

Dental crowns are one of Dr. Roe’s many ways to help you get the most out of your dental health. Dr. Roe is a board-certified prosthodontist that specializes in crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and more. He can design a crown that looks nearly identical to your natural teeth.

What Are Dental Crowns?crowns

Crowns are designed to fully encompass the tooth, starting at the gums. There are several different reasons why someone might need a dental crown, and because of that, we offer both temporary and permanent options. Dental crowns will strengthen the tooth and improve your appearance. They can be made out of yellow gold, white gold, zirconia, zirconia with porcelain, metal with porcelain, and 100% porcelain.

Crowns Can Be Custom Made

Each crown needs to be custom-made to fit the exact needs of each patient. Crowns are made by removing some of the tooth structure to allow room for the crown. It can be designed to replace missing tooth structure, strengthen the tooth, and protect it from potential damage. A well-designed crown can also help fix a rotated tooth. Dr. Roe can create custom-made crowns that fit the exact needs of the patient.

Commonly Asked Questions About Dental Crowns

Here are some of the questions our patients have regarding our dental crown services:

What is the Average Cost for Crowns?

The cost of a dental crown will vary greatly depending on the patient. The average dental crown cost in the Dallas area can range anywhere from $1,200-$1,600. Additional treatments – which are common depending on the damage to the tooth – will increase the price. We would need to conduct a full examination to give you an accurate price estimate. Fortunately, many dental insurance companies pay for a portion of dental crowns.

Are Dental Crowns Worth It?

Crowns are designed to protect the tooth from further damage. If you have suffered damage to one or several of your teeth, a dental crown will help ensure that there is no further damage.

Can Teeth Rot Under a Crown

If the crown starts leaking, it is possible for the tooth to rot. When installing a dental crown, Dr. Roe works hard to make sure to minimize the risk of leaking. Proper dental care is still needed to protect your teeth.

How Are Crowns Fitted?

It’s important to properly fit a crown before placing it on the tooth. First and foremost, Dr. Roe will grind down the natural tooth so that the crown can be applied. We will use a CEREC machine to scan the tooth structure. Using this machine, we are able to design a crown that perfectly fits your teeth.
